The Director of Quality leads the company in the design, development and deployment of the Quality Management System.  They insure the appropriate quality measures and targets are defined for all business processes and documented procedures are in place to consistently meet established targets, measure performance, and improve the processes.  The position also plans, directs, and controls the operations of the Quality team and test facilities. 


  • Leadership, development and daily supervision of organization's Quality Engineers and Quality Technicians.
  • Establish departmental goals and metrics (KPI's) in alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable ISO standards as well as other external approval agencies.
  • Establish and maintain business processes under the Quality Organization responsibility which improve the overall business process, products and manufacturing operations. 
  • Assist other members of management in the development and maintenance of business processes.
  • Lead Advanced Quality Planning activity for new or revised products and processes.
  • Establish quality standards based on product and consumer requirements.
  • Manage Supply Chain selection, approval and on-going performance objectives based on manufacturing, engineering and consumer requirements.
  • Establish in-process product inspection standards through defect prevention strategy.
  • Establish standards for the control and disposition of non-conforming material throughout the process.
  • Plan and manage gage calibration for the Hastings and Holland facility.
  • Communicate product and process quality performance by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
  • Establish problem solving teams and conduct training with employees in problem solving techniques.
  • Achieve financial objectives by preparing the Quality Department budget and overseeing expenditures.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge of best business practices and technology.


  • Competent knowledge and understanding of fundamental principles of one or more professional, technical, or specialized body of knowledge (business-related field).
  • Requires knowledge of an advanced level in a body of knowledge such as law, accounting, social work, etc.
  • Decisions require complex analytical judgment.  Plan and perform a wide variety of duties requiring general knowledge of company policies and procedures applicable within area of responsibilities, and including their application to cases not previously covered. 
  • Requires considerable judgment to work independently toward general results, devise methods, modify or adapt standard procedures to meet different conditions, make decisions based on precedent and company policies.
  • Four year degree, preferably in an engineering discipline. Master's Degree preferred.
  • Five years' experience in a leadership position in the areas of Quality or Engineering.
  • Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical personnel.
