This opportunity will work in our current Hastings Corporate Office until Viking's new facility is built in Caledonia, MI 49316. Projected completion date is 1 year. Additional information provided in the link below.

Works under the direction of the Controller to oversee and manage all accounting related activities for the Viking SupplyNet & Viking Fabrication subsidiaries. This will include budgeting and forecasting, general ledger maintenance, preparation of financial statements, and monthly close. The Accounting Manager will also serve as an advisor / strategic partner to the management team responsible for Viking SupplyNet & Viking Fabrication on issues based on the financials of the various locations / region.  In addition, this position will also manage and support the accounts payable function, developing, mentoring and supervising the appropriate staff associates, for all Viking Group Inc. companies.

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists the Controller & Chief Financial officer in carrying out the goals and objectives of the Company.
  • Produce monthly consolidated and location specific financial reports including ad hoc reporting as required
  • Prepare forecasts, annual operating plan, and assistance in compilation of strategic plan in a timely manner.
  • Performs ongoing accounting related activities for all Viking SupplyNet & Viking Fabrication locations to include maintenance of detailed reconciliations of balance sheet accounts; updates on cash flow forecasts; regular purchase price variance reviews; and regular vendor rebate reviews.
  • Compiles monthly inventory metric reports, monitors and reviews cycle count performance on a regular basis.  Communicate and interpret the results with the management team as needed.
  • Manage the accounts payable function for the entire organization.  This will include regular analysis of accrued purchases accounts ensuring timely discrepancy resolution; location petty cash accounts, and review of national vendor accounts.
  • Prepares and oversees year-end audit schedules and interpretation of results for all locations. Ensure accuracy of physical inventory levels and reported results. Investigate and explain book to physical inventory adjustments.
  • Manage proper setup of new vendor accounts.
  • Interact with sales, customer service, operations, logistics, and fabrication personnel on changes in strategy / procedures, representing views from the accounting / financial side of the business.
  • Performs 1099 related reporting.
  • Assist in completion of special projects.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree (4-year) in Accounting plus 5 years of manufacturing / distribution accounting experience
  • Experience in the full cycle of accounting activities from budgeting through year-end close
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle matters of confidentiality discreetly
  • Demonstrated leadership & supervisory experience
  • CPA is highly preferred
  • High level of proficiency in advanced Excel. Knowledge of JD Edwards E1 software is desired and/or experience with ERP systems.
