The Supplier Quality Supervisor will act as the primary contact for managing Supplier Quality initiatives for all purchased parts to Viking Corporation, including the daily supervision of Supplier Quality Engineering team.  This is a key cross-functional role managing the Viking supply base with the Strategic Purchasing, Production Planning, Manufacturing Engineering and Research and Development teams.  This position will also be directly responsible for the planning, coordination and direction of New Product Introduction, Current Production sustainability, and customer issue resolution activities to meet customer expectations. 


  • Supervises Supplier Quality Engineers and Supplier Quality Technicians.  Ensure department objectives and policies are communicated, and enforce compliance.
  • Measures, evaluates and works to improve the individual and team performance of direct reports using metrics, defined criteria and mentoring approach.
  • Provides leadership in creating an environment that motivates and raises employee morale.
  • Engages with engineering teams and support personnel to improve supplier quality performance.
  • Drives the application of PPAP, APQP, PFMEA, MSA, Control Plans and SPC with the supply chain.
  • Participates in New Product launch process, ensuring design intent is understood and able to be communicated to suppliers.  This includes participation in design reviews with respect to Quality requirements of new products, development of gauging plans, control plans and PFMEA.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge of best business practices and technology.
  • Conducts Supplier Advanced Quality planning visits as required based on the complexity of the product.
  • Reviews sample submissions from suppliers and/or vendors for dimensional accuracy.  Leads the reviews of results and gives approval to supplier PPAP submissions
  • Responsible for all activities of incoming materials inspection, including the development of inspection requirements at the supplier and Viking Receiving Inspection.
  • Leads in the containment, root cause and correction of daily supplier quality issues.
  • Leads cross-functional teams assigned to fix systemic supplier related issues using structured problem solving techniques including DOE, 5 x Why, etc.
  • Develops documentation methods for presenting, reporting, maintaining, and archiving of supplier performance data.
  • Provides creative analysis of data and identification of new opportunities for process improvement.
  • Participates, as required, in support of Engineering Change Notice (ECN) and Engineering Change Request(ECR) processes.
  • Assists Technical Services department with investigative activities associated with supplier related customer returns.
  • Acts in accordance with ISO9001 to support the external customer experience during advanced corporate and quality planning activities.
  • Conducts supplier visits regularly based on manufacturing performance feedback. Provides plans for development of underachieving suppliers.
  • Notifies the Quality Management of any problems which adversely affect product quality.
  • Participates in defining and executing business unit goals and objectives for scope of Quality Management Systems beyond local manufacturing site as defined by Management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred, or equivalent experience in a quality-related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in a Supplier Quality Organization in a manufacturing environment with leadership experience.
  • Only 10-20% travel. Mainly in the Midwest US, and potential for Europe and China.
