This position is responsible for the development, implementation and continual enforcement of processes related to the manufacture of sprinklers and valves for the fire protection industry.  Develops and implements cost-effective manufacturing methods for new product introductions as well as continuous improvement of current manufacturing processes.  This position also, plans, directs and ensures the development of the team of Manufacturing Engineers.


  • Leadership, development and daily supervision of organization's Manufacturing Engineer's and Control's Engineer's as assigned.
  • Establishes department goals in alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Monitors, evaluates and works to improve the individual and team performance of direct reports through coaching and training.
  • Establishes and maintains business processes under the organization's responsibility which improve the overall business process, products and manufacturing operations. 
  • Analyzes sprinkler and valve component and assembly product designs for best method of manufacture.  Participates in design reviews with R&D Engineering counterparts during early phases of product development to achieve product designs capable of manufacturing.
  • Understands GD&T, datum dimensioning and tolerance stack-ups and impact to manufacturing processes.
  • Prioritizes and manages Manufacturing Engineering projects to scope, on time and within budget requirements.
  • Leads team in the design, development and/or improvement of manufacturing processes.
  • Oversees the design, drawing release and build of manufacturing tooling and equipment internally and externally.
  • Specify, quote, purchase and runoff capital equipment, tooling and systems required for manufacturing.
  • Evaluates and estimates production time, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Leads team in the development and maintenance of process documentation, including Process Flow diagrams, PFMEA's, Standard Work Instructions and Set-up sheets.
  • Provides engineering support for plant operation.  Troubleshoots daily production problems using root cause analysis methods as they occur.  Assesses process capability for opportunities for improvement.
  • Facilitates communication between departments to coordinate engineering activities and ensure business objectives are met.
  • Manages product engineering change implementation as they occur.
  • Provides guidance for production workers, technicians, and interns.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical degree.
  • 10+ years experience in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated growth.
  • 3-5 years experience in direct team leadership role.
  • Knowledge in CNC machining, Automation, Robotics, cellular assembly, CAD tools, Materials, and LEAN manufacturing concepts.
  • Prefer knowledge of castings, screw machine, and stampings.
  • Expertise with GD&T and understanding customer requirements
  • Demonstrated strong project management, communication and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, ProE, and Autocad
